Artist Statement

Raised in Natick, MA, Bianca is a ceramic artist currently working out of her studio at Mother Brook. She attended the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, MD, graduating in 2016 with a BFA in Ceramics. While pursuing various volunteer and hired positions post-grad at Baltimore Clayworks, she moved back home to the metrowest Boston area and began working at Portland Pottery Supply in Braintree, MA. In early 2018 she became a manager at Portland Pottery and moved into her studio at Mother Brook. She has since pursued various enriching workshop and firing opportunities throughout the summer.

Bianca works through a variety of techniques and materials, primarily using earthenware and stoneware clays to create solid built figurative sculpture, coiled vessels both functional and decorative, and wheel thrown functional work. She has an interest in atmospheric firing, working with natural found materials, kiln building, and forever exploring the relationship between body and vessel through making.
