Metals: Forging

Silversmithing is an ancient art going back thousands of years transforming flat sheet metal into functional vessels for use.   Flat sheets of metal are formed into vessel forms using stakes and hammers. Copper sheet will be cut into large disks and sunk, formed, and raised into vessel shapes. We will make cups, bowls, small vessels, dishes and sculpture.   Various hammered techniques such as planishing, raising, upsetting, forging and more will be demonstrated.
